Just thought I'd add this post!

After phoning up Malcom almost a year ago, asking about quick ways to pass my test he made me realise that learning to ride properly is more important than passing the test, so I got the money together for my full DAS (Which is very reasonably priced when you take into account the time and quality of training) and came back to him.

I'm glad I did, the lessons were brilliant, Malcom puts you at ease and I felt confident and safe on the 500.

The rest of the staff, although I never trained with them, were extremely friendly and good to have a chat to!

I was amazed at how much my riding had progressed in the five days and also was glad to recieve my pass with 3 minors (It would've been a clean sheet if I followed Malcom's advice 100%!)

I feel like not only have I gained a test pass, I've gained a friend and an experience that I will treasure for the rest of my life, I was almost saddened when it came to test day as it meant no more long rides out (Thanks for the ciggies by the way Malc, trust me to forget mine on test day!)

You will not regret booking training with Grainger's SOM, especially if you like coffee!

Best wishes to Malcom, Stu and everyone who works at Graingers SOM.

After doing my CBT elsewhere I was riding (usually read getting into trouble) a 125   I decided to do a DAS course. After speaking to Malc I went with Graingers as I liked the idea of 1-2-1 which Malc says is the only way of doing it… AND HE’S RIGHT!

After a quick run on the 125 and 5 days on the 500 I passed my test with a clean sheet – nothing short of a miracle considering how I rode previously. Everything was taken at a calm pace with no corners cut as the emphasis is on learning to ride and not just passing the test in five or whatever number of days time. I cannot thank or recommend these guys highly enough!   Cheers!

Thinking about riding a motorcycle?? Please read my post.

Firstly, i picked Grainger after a telephone conversation with Mal late one Friday evening, he instilled me with the confidence to get on with it and achieve the goals of c.b.t and then Direct Access.

A big thankyou to Stuart who tutored me through my C.B.T day session. I had already done this three years ago at another school - and i can honestly say that the difference in facilities, and more importantly, expertise, advice and general thoroughness was remarkable. This time round, my confidence and desire to ride a bigger bike was there, and thats thanks to you mate - Cheers!

The Direct Access course was just fantastic!! Mal tutored one me 1 to 1 over 5 great lessons. His patience and general approach to teaching was amazing. Together we battled through rain, snow and very damp conditions, and by the third lesson, the "penny had dropped". Everything id been taught started to make sense, and i felt able to control and enjoy the ride of a 500cc bike. Countless cups of tea over the theory sessions were also appreciated!

By the test day, i knew i was 100% ready to ride alone, safely and competently - the course had worked, so i just knew it was a case of me keeping my nerves and doing what i have been taught.
And just like you said Mal, the test was a breeze compared to the standard he had me riding!
So now ive done it, and passed first time too.

Mal said ive got another session (free of charge) once i buy my new bike to help me adjust. What more can u ask for!!??

A big thankyou to u Mal, its been an absolute pleasure, and ill c u soon.

I HIGHLY RECOMEND GRAINGER S.O.M

I just want to offer my thanks to Stuart for his excellent tutoring which helped me complete my CBT. I also want to pass comment on the very high standard of training I received compared with other similar training schools. I completed a CBT a coupleo f years ago at a different training school and I was most dissatisfied with the training so I decided to try out this school for my refresher and I think it was a wise choice.

I would certainly recommend Grainger's to anyone

Many thanks to Stewart for his help in getting me through the CBT and especially to Malcolm for the (very!) patient guidance which enabled me to pass my test last week.
The training was first class taking me (a non rider) through CBT, instruction on the 500 and on to passing the test in little over a week!   The test itself seemed relatively straightforward after the very thorough training sessions with Malcolm.   To anyone thinking about learning to ride a motorcycle I would thoroughly recommend Graingers, you won't find a better training school.

If you have had an unfulfilled desire to ride a motorcycle, I recommend that you take lessons.
It is never too late to learn. I am 70 years old and the thrill of riding is exhilarating.
You should contact Grainger's and sign up; you will be trained by experienced instructors who have infinite patience to ensure you learn to ride in a safe and controlled environment.

GO FOR IT !   ITS GREAT FUN !

What a great bunch of people at graingers, after 20 years off the road they got me through direct access with about 12 hours of exceptional fun training. Many thanks to Darlene Dave and Ian for getting me through my CBT effortlesly and a major big thanks to Malc for all his help especially at 11.41am today for the test. IF YOU WANT TO PASS YOUR BIKE TEST AND BE SAFE DONT GO ANYWHERE ELSE THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS.

Hi folks,   Just to say this is a great site, and to let you know I'm proud to have been part of the Changing Gears ride with Darlene. She is obviously a great rider, and I was the support van driver, tagging along at the back filled with bike envy.   Good luck to you all, and well done Dee!   Laney xxx   IBCnU

What a wonderful set of people, I have to really thank Malc for getting me through the test, if he can teach me he can teach anybody. He might be bloody ugly but what a great guy. I advice anyone wanting to learn to go to graingers, plus you have a pretty one called Darlene who will look after you. Her husband is bloody ugly too, but not as ugly as Malc ,thanks again Malc

I did the DAS course and it was money well spent. The paperwork for the test was arranged, all I had to do was turn up, ride and learn. I did the CBT with Stuart who was very sympathetic to my first attempts at riding a bike and the tuition was first class. I then did all the 'big bike' training with Malcolm and the training again was excellent. Whilst the training was obviously geared towards passing the test, Malcolm was always passing on tips which were above and beyong the requirements of the test with a view to keeping you safe. All of the tuition was well delivered and fair without ever over complicating matters. All of the instructers I met were very welcoming. Most importantly I looked forward to turning up every day and the whole experience was very enjoyable. In short, if you are thinking about learning to ride a motorbike go for it and there is no need to look any further than Graingers. Andy Jones

All you girls(or boys) out there who are toying with the idea of taking your bike test..........
I went to Graingers after a very bad experience with another bike school (they will for this purpose remain nameless!). Dave Bratt took me out and helped soothed my nerves re-build my shattered confidence and with a couple of lessons I was back on a 500cc.
Malc...well what can I say... A pure diamond, always the gentleman and the patience of a saint. He never shouted or made me feel daft and without him I wouldnt have passed at all. In fact when I went to Graingers I was ready to give up and stick to four wheels....so Glad I didnt !!!
thanks again

This is to anyone who is thinking about riding a bike.   You will not find anywhere better to learn!!   All the guys and Girls make you feel really at home from the first cuppa they offer you and believe me there will be a quite a few of them! (Stuart, you really need to listen to Malcolm and not get the cheap coffee).   All of the are very professional and excellent riders.   From the first time I got onto the 125 and then the 500 I felt safe and relaxed and that’s all to the training
I now have my eye on a 600 Bandit and hope to sort the deal out tomorrow, as soon as I have it Pics will be on the way
A big thanks to everyone at Grainger and from the Misses who recons that she will not be seeing me at the weekend now

To all you girls thinking of learning to ride a bike . . . Do it!!
I would like to say a massive thankyou to Malcolm in particular, as well as Stuart and Ian for seeing me through from CBT to full licence!   I had never sat on a bike before this, but by the time I had approached my test (a very short time later) I was ready to go. Thankyou so much, I loved every minute and I am missing my ER5 already!!           Bev Cook

Just to say a massive thank you to Malcolm and everyone at the school. I first got on a 500cc bike on the Thursday, and by the following Friday I had passed my test with no faults whatsoever.
The best recommendation I can give is that, at all times I felt I was getting constructive criticism and help at every stage of my lessons. This meant that my test was much easier than the work I had been doing prior to it.
The one-to-one tuition also meant I was getting value for money and great tuition.
I have just bought a Triumph Bonneville and will send a picture later.
Thanks for all your help, Darren Amesbury.

:> Nice to see you've finally got a site Malcolm.
For anyone else thats looking, I trained with these guys, and cannot recommend them enough - From CBT to DAS, and I passed (6 days after first getting on a 500cc bike) with no faults whatsoever.
Malcolm trains you to a far superior level than the test requires, with an easy going manner.
Good luck for the future (i'll post a pic soon!) Leigh Jepson
